But I Am Published!
My story, The Summer Sun and the Yup’ik Boy, was published in Highlights for Children (July, 2008).

I loved seeing my story illustrated. I thought the little boy was so sweet.
But I think the best thing was that my mom and dad (86 and 89) were in the car when I got my copies and they were so impressed with me. They think I’m quite clever. Mom’s already ordering copies to send to the relatives.
To add to the fun yesterday, I also saw a friend’s first novel in Costco. My mom bought it, of course. Any author friends of mine are friends of hers too, by Golly!

I entered no contest and won no award.
I wrote just as much as my life would afford.
Last year! Where did the time go?
I moved in with Mother and buried my dad.
I finished my novel, although I was sad.
Last year! I was working my butt off.
