OK I’ve been tagged twice now (thanks Heather and Meg) and I guess if I don’t do this, desperate bloggers will keep on tagging me. Besides, I have no post planned for today. So here y’all go. Some thrilling things you never knew about Sally Apokedak.
Seven things I want to do before I die:
1. Write ten Newbery quality books, all of which celebrate the sovereignty of God.
2. Memorize the gospel of John.
3. Be steadfast and strong and so filled with scripture and the Holy Spirit that I can rightly train my children so they will be fit for Godly living when I’m not around to remind them all the time.
4. Be steadfast and strong and so filled with scripture and the Holy Spirit that I can help comfort and carry loved ones who will leave this world before me.
5. Gain eyes and a heart of wisdom so that I will learn to see and love those wounded souls God has scattered about the path I so blithely trip down daily.
6. Drive with my husband and children in all fifty states.
7. Visit Australia.
Seven things I cannot do:
1. Sky dive, bungee jump, or ride on scary carnival rides without wetting my pants. (I’m guessing. I’ll never really find out because I’ll never engage in any of these foolish, foolish activities.)
2. Pitch a novel proposal without sounding like a complete idiot. (I’m not guessing on this one. Wish I were.)
3. Write an interesting synopsis.
4. Love others better than I love myself.
5. Be the mother I thought I was going to be before the kids came along and I turned into a tired and irritable old woman.
6. Sing in public.
7. Make myself love housecleaning better than reading and writing.
Seven things that attract me to my husband:
1. His generosity.
2. The way he suffers–without complaint.
3. The sunny disposition that kicks in just a day after he’s been given a huge blow.
4. The way he encourages me at everything I put my hands to, thinks I’m brilliant, and wants me to succeed in every way.
5. The freedom he gives me . . . to buy what I want, to go where I want, to visit whom I want.
6. The compliments he gives me when the food is good and the soft way he says, “It was a little dry,” when he wants to tell me the dinner wasn’t all that satisfying.
7. His commitment to family.
Seven things I say most often:
1. Shane, that’s enough!
2. Shane, no more!
3. Put these away in the proper place.
4. Think before you act.
5. God saw you so don’t bother lying.
6. I love you.
7. I’m sorry.
Seven books (or series) I love:
~since I love so many books and have a hard time limiting this section to seven measly choices, and since this is a site about children’s books, I’ll stick with books I love that have kid appeal~
1. The Hiding Place
2. The Chronicles of Narnia
3. George MacDonald books published by Bethany and edited by Michael Phillips
4. Anne of Green Gables books
5. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings
6. The Wolves of Willoughby Chase
7. The Wilderking books
Seven movies I would watch over and over again:
1. The Sound of Music
2. Pride and Prejudice
3. Sense and Sensibility
4. Nicholas Nickleby
5. A Knight’s Tale
6. Oliver!
7. Wildflower
Seven people I want to join in, too:
I’m going to skip this part. I’m terrible. Breaking the chain. The thing is that most of the bloggers I read either don’t know me and wouldn’t care that I tagged them or they’ve already played the game.

Thanks for writing these — you are so funny. I know it’s only a matter of time before you write the first of your many Newberys and go bungee jumping in Australia — then you can HIRE someone to do all the housecleaning while you blithely pen your next award winner.
Looks like we’ve both got the same idea for a 50-state tour — just gotta figure out HOW and WHEN.
Merry Christmas!
Great fun. I’m glad you played along (and glad I don’t have a blog yet–heh heh heh. Come to think of it, I don’t know as Bryan’s been hit. If you want to change your mind, I’m pretty sure there are a couple more people you could effectively tag.)
Australia was on my list of to do, too, when I wanted to have “visit habitable continents” on my resume. Hahah. Somewhere I lost the drive for number five.
Ten Newberys! You do think big. Love that.
Becky
Heather, when I read your thing about touring the States in an RV I thought, “Yep, it’s that Kindred spirit, deal.”
My family and I did convert an old schoolbus so my husband could get in and out and have a bed in it, and we drove from Alaska to Arizona and spent one winter. We wanted to do it every winter but couldn’t afford it. We homeschooled the kids on the way. Loved being able to teach them how to read the maps, and loved visiting places instead of just reading about them. I’d do it again if I could afford it. If you get the chance, go for it. You won’t regret it.
A side benefit is that when you are stuck in a thirty-six-foot long space with two rambunctious children you really have to discipline. And that’s good for their little characters. heh heh
Becky, I did make out my response a couple of weeks ago, when Meg tagged me. And I got stuck on the last part. I had Heather tagged for one (and then didn’t do it and she got me). I also had you tagged, saying you could answer in the comments area. And I had Bryan tagged. I wanted to hear Mir, since she’s always so funny. I didn’t know where to go from there. I picked Mick Silva, and Dave Long, because I do read them regularly. But I doubt they’d take part. I could not come up with the last one. I’d love to read Der Fielden on this. But I don’t know if he’s been tagged already since I don’t read his blog regularly. Bet he has already done it.
So what do you think? Should I edit my post and tag these people?
Absolutely! I think Dave would play along–eventually. Hahah–might take a year. Mick, I couldn’t say. How about Donna Fleisher? Or Randy Mortensen or Jonathan Rogers if you want to keep with the children’s lit angle. Or Donita Paul–fantasy also. I’d say tag people you want us, your readers, to connect with (but I would definitely stick with bloggers who have blogs, not bloggers who do comments. Heh heh heh.)
