I loved this interview with Jeff Kinney. Money is such a burden. If you’re a wimpy kid and you have money, someone wants to beat you up and take it. And it’s not a lot easier for grownups.
There are all kinds of temptations that come with money. Look at the stars who drink or drug themselves to death because they’re bored and because they afford to drug themselves into oblivion. Look at the people who come with the money to tell you what a fine person you are. Look at the temptation to forget God and rely on yourself.
And there’s the temptation to hoard. I’ve noticed that the more money I have, the more I’m afraid to lose it.
Well I have the first wimpy kid book on my shelf but I’ve never even opened it. I bought it knowing it was one I should read. But it’s not really a genre that interests me.
I’m sick today. Laying in bed. I think I’ll pull Wimpy Kid down and give him a look.

Curious to see what you think of this one. I love Captain Underpants, but this book left me cold. I thought it was mean. One of my students explained that sometimes kids like to read about bad things happening to other kids because it makes them feel better. I just didn’t get it!
Well, I confess: I didn’t read it that day. It really is a genre I care nothing for. But now, you’ve got me curious. I will look at it today.
