Today is the last day of the KidzBookBuzz.com blog tour for Just Grace and the Snack Attack.
The Just Grace books are written and illustrated by Charise Mericle Harper.
This book reminded me of the Wimpy Kid books, only this one is definitely for girls. It is less a story and more a rather eclectic account of Grace’s days and her thoughts about her life and the people in her life. Grace is smart and she’s a good girl and yet I wasn’t totally drawn to the character because I didn’t see, early on, what she wanted or what forces were set against her. Even in a diary-type book, I think a character needs to have a strong desire and she needs to be thwarted in that desire to make the book really gripping.
That said, this book was easy reading and had some nice moments of humor, and I think it will appeal to the 6-8 crowd that will be interested in the school life of a little girl a bit older than they are.
