I had a great time putting up a blog about my YA fantasy novel recently. I searched for pictures of my main character and when I saw this girl, I knew she was the one.

I painted her eyes, and painted blouses on her, and painted out her pony tale.

Then I played with the coloring to make her hair look lighter. And I came up with my girl. This is the perfect picture of her.

I really enjoyed finding just the right pictures for the blog header and finding the right pictures for the characters. I loved writing up the “back cover” copy (dreaming that I might someday really be published
)
If you have a book, whether you’re working on it or done, I recommend doing this. It really makes the story feel like a real book and it’s a lot of fun to do.
If any of you have teen girls you could talk into checking out my blog for my teen girl novel, I’m always open to critique. And if you put up your own page, leave the URL in the comments section so I can go visit yours.

I jumped to the blog and read the summary for your book. I love it! It’s definitely something I would like to read. I wish you all the best with writing it. The girl is gorgeous and I think she absolutely matches the story.
Thanks, Selina. That book is already written and my agent has recently started submitting it to publishers. I’m so glad you like the girl. She felt perfect to me. I loved the expression on her face.
I’m going to put a blog for my work in progress soon, I hope. I have to work on the summary. I think I’ve found a picture of my heroine. I love doing these blogs—it works a different creative muscle from writing fiction, maybe.
I love the way you changed the pictures — so evocative!
