Welcome to the Carnival of Young Adult Literature! This carnival will run once a month. Entries will be due by the third Monday of the month, and the carnival will post on the fourth Monday of the month. (ENTER HERE)
If you have a book blog, or even a bookish blog (any age audience), you are welcome to hang out with the cool YA crowd for this carnival. Any posts having to do with YA literature—novels for teen girls, novels for teen boys, biographies, history, devotional books, or any other kind of nonfiction—are welcome in this carnival. The posts can be about writing, reading, listening, or acting out teen lit. You may post author interviews, or book reviews. Whatever you want, in other words, as long as it’s related to YA books. You can come at the topic from any worldview you like, be it Christian, Muslim, Atheistic, Humanistic, Feministic, Pagan, or any other kind of worldview. This carnival is open to all comers, regardless of age, color, or religious belief.
What is the Benefit of Posting on Carnivals?
It costs you very little and gains you a great deal. You aren’t spending a lot of time producing content; you are simply taking one of your already-written, excellent posts and linking to the carnival. For this small investment of time you get a link back to your site, and your blog is exposed to a new group of people who may want to join your blog community.
If you want to invest a little more time and host the carnival one month, you will get links back to your site from all the carnival participants, and you’ll get lots of visitors coming to see the carnival.
The rules are simple:
- Get your entry in on time.
- When you enter, leave a short blurb that describes your post. (Carnival hosts may edit the blurb for length and/or clarity.)
- Insert a link somewhere in your carnival post that will take the reader to the monthly carnival page.
- If you want to host future carnivals, email me at carnival at sally-apokedak dot com, and I will check out your site.
- You’re welcome to nab one of the buttons below and stick it in your sidebar or on the carnival post. If you do that, I’d appreciate it if you left intact the link-back to this page so others could click over to read these rules.
If your link is not included in the carnival:
Look at your blog with an honest eye. Is it full of cut-and-paste text, links to every blog tour in existence, and reviews that consist of back cover copy plus a couple of lines saying you loved the book? Are your posts thoughtful and well-articulated? We aren’t trying to be mean, but if your blog is full of sparkle but has very little substance, we can’t link to your post because it will lower our credibility with search engines. I’m afraid Google is concerned about the company we keep, and it does judge us guilty by association.
Please don’t let this discourage you. Clean up your blog and get back with us the following month. We’ll take another look. If you can’t see why your post was rejected and you want someone to tell you specifically what the problem is please email me at the address above.
Thanks so much for your interest in the Carnival of YA Literature!
