Here’s an interesting link for anyone wanting to turn their blogs, or any of their writing, into e-books. Very cool, I think. I love technology.
Yes, I’ve dissed Paterson in a book review, because my theology is at odds with hers, but I freely admit the woman is brilliant and one of the best writers I’ve ever read. So I’m very excited to see that Clarion is publishing Read For Your Life, a serialized book made up of Paterson’s essays and speeches.
And you can get the first one free through May 24, 2010. Mine is already nestled nicely on my Kindle and I’m going to subscribe to the whole shebang. Readers can subscribe to them all for $7.99. Thirty-three cents an essay, folks. That’s so cheap I can’t believe it. To get thoughts from such an incredibly smart woman for mere pennies, is, frankly, mind-boggling to me. I have to say, I like this electronic publishing.
I really want one. I really, really want one.
And the new books are going to be really cool. Really, really cool.
I’ve been meaning to write on this for a while.
I got an Amazon Kindle II for my birthday this year, and I immediately fell in love with the thing. It is so easy to buy and read books with a Kindle. I have spent a bunch of money on books I never would have bought it I didn’t have it.
Books–stories–will always be with us. We’ve always had stories and we always will. Whether they come on paper, or on film, or on the screen of an electronic reader doesn’t really matter.
Well, there is a different between reading a story, hearing a story, and watching a movie. I know. But I can’t see why reading a story on paper would be better than reading on the screen.
And I am a book lover from way back. I consider books to be home decorating items. My favorite series are set out, and I take such joy in seeing them on my shelf. I love the smell of books. I love the thick, creamy pages. I love the covers. I love everything about books.
And I love everything about my Kindle, too. I love that I don’t have to carry several books with me when I fly, because I’m not sure what kind of mood I’ll be in. I love that I can read it in the sun. I love that I can search the text. I love that I can bookmark passages.
And I really love that I am able to put my manuscript on it and read it like a real book. I love that I can put manuscripts I’m reading for friends on it.
I love everything about this device.
