This group, First Book, is giving away fifty thousand books to children in need in one state. Oklahoma got the books in 2007 and Kentucky got them in 2008. Maybe your state will get them this year. Vote now, vote often, it says.

I wish I could say I had copies of this book to give away. Shoot, I wish I could have scored a review copy of the book. My daughter was very disappointed in me. I wish I could have gotten twenty copies for a KidzBookBuzz blog tour. Some of the bloggers were very disappointed in me.

But, if I can’t give away the books, I can at least rejoice in the fact that I know someone who is giving away three copies of Suzanne Collins’ Catching Fire. My old pal Superfast Reader at Reading Is My Superpower.

I realize I’ve been remiss in my duties in regards to Suzanne Collins. That’s probably because my kids and I discovered Gregor when I was on hiatus from the blog for a year while life happened.

Let me say now, though, if you have not read the Gregor the Overlander books and if you have not read Hunger Games, you are one of the luckiest book lovers around. Because you have so much to look forward to.

I have read them but will console myself with the thought that movies are sure to come out at some point. When we read Gregor we pictured Jack Nicholson as Ripred.

My son wanted to play the part of Gregor.
What a cutie.

Sigh. I wonder if I’ll ever write books that make kids wish they could play the character when the movie comes out.
